Is an Online Money Management Program Right for you?
Before, if you ever wanted to manage your money all at once on the computer, you had to purchase software and install it. Now there are many more options. There are several different online money management programs out there that you can choose from.
Are these programs really any good? Should you sign up for one and spend any time with it? Most of these programs are free, and worth looking into.
If you already use software that you purchased, you may or may not want to switch. If you use every complicated feature in the program and update frequently to get the latest features, it might be better to stay where you are. The free programs might not have everything you want and need. On the other hand, if you are reading this, you probably aren't happy with what you are currently using and are looking for a change.
Quicken Online is one such program and is now completely free to sign up and use. It is a great program. I have connected all my accounts to it including my savings account, checking account, and online investment account.
Credit card accounts can also be connected. This will help you keep track of all your spending because each time you use one of these accounts, your transactions are recorded in the account.
They also have a great budgeting feature. If you have trouble sticking to a budget, this will be a huge help for you. It works by setting up a spending limit for a particular category such as 'auto' or 'utilities'. You are then able to see yourself reach that limit.
It's a lot easier to keep within your budget when your account tells you you're done spending. Just fill out your limits for the month and follow it regularly to make sure you don't overspend.
Managing your money in a notebook is better than not managing it at all, but now that Quicken is free, you might as well go for it. I love that I can see all my accounts in one place and know exactly how much money I have in total. This is a huge help when you are trying to figure out the ideal budget and setting your financial goals. Don't let your money sit un-managed any longer, set up your account today!
